I am Paulene and I am from sunny South Africa. I am currently a final year student doing my bachelor’s degree in social sciences. I spent 2018 in the United States studying my substance abuse counselling certificate. I want to be a clinical psychologist someday.
I have 2 years tutoring/teaching experience with ages of 4 up to university level. I also have experience working with children with special need such as those that have ADHD and autism. I also in the process of completing my TEFL certificate. My lesson would be held in a non-judgmental, open-minded and positive way. I believe in a collaborative relationship where we learn, laugh and grow together. I also believe in working hard and adapting to how my students learn the best. I have a great passion for people, and I am curious about the world. Living in South Africa has taught me a lot about other cultures and languages but also inspired me to be a lifelong learner. Therefore, I love teaching.
In my free time I like to do karate, read, gym, watch movies and series, watch musicals and plays, cook, garden and spend time with my family and friends. I am an artist (Sketching, painting etc), enjoy poetry and love animals such as my pet leopard gecko.
Learning a new language can be hard but be brave and know that I am here to help. I am very excited to start this journey with you. Let’s make you a pro. Gandhi once said, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” Let’s start living and learning to the fullest while having some fun too.
Hope to see you in my classroom soon.
