I’m Mike and I am a qualified English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher. I studied at the University of London, Goldsmiths College, where I obtained a BA in English Literature, and I am also certified by the University of Cambridge to teach ESL. I was born in Ireland but moved to England with my parents when I was a child, so I have a very neutral British-English accent having spent most of my life in London and other parts of the UK. As a teacher, I am very patient and aim to provide a relaxed but informative teaching environment, that will help you develop all key language skills.

I have travelled widely throughout Europe, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, and Latin America. I have lived in and taught English in Vietnam, Mexico, and Colombia, both to adults and to children, in schools and online. I also spent six months teaching English Literature and Language in London secondary schools - along with several weeks in primary. Because of this, I have a range of experiences to draw upon in the classroom. Before teaching, I worked for many years for the UK Government in Westminster, where I was a communications/public relations officer working both in government policy. I worked directly with the highest-ranking government ministers, including a future Prime Minister, and I spoke to the BBC and other news outlets on a daily basis to communicate government policy.

I am passionate about travel, nature, music, movies, theatre, and current affairs. While in Asia, I trekked alone for 16 days to Mount Everest Base Camp! I hope to see you soon on Skyeng!
