Janneke

Hello Everyone. My name is Janneke and I’m from Cape Town, South Africa. I have a Bachelor's degree in Languages and Cultures and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education.

I teach because, for me, it's the most effective and most enjoyable way to change the world.  Teaching allows me to work on hearts and minds, to guide people in becoming empowered, engaged, creative, liberated human beings. I love inspiring people and helping people learn more.

My teaching career started in Taiwan in 2009. I taught a wide range of ages, from three-year-olds in kindergarten to 50+ year old engineers in my Business English and Conversational English classes. After teaching abroad for three years, I returned to South Africa and continued with my teaching career here.

I thrive on creating a structured and vibrant learning environment for my students. My goal is to have my students interact confidently in each lesson in order for their speaking skills to improve. I value making a connection with each of my students as I believe it’s very important to take an interest in the things my students love.

In my free time, my son and I go to the beach while my husband surfs. I can’t surf waves, but I enjoy surfing the web, watching movies, photography and doing yoga.
