Hi there and welcome to Skyeng!

My name is Joz and I’m from Cape Town in sunny South Africa.

I completed my degree in English, Psychology, Philosophy and History of Art. I continued to complete a postgraduate in Higher Education. 

I decided on a career in teaching for two reasons: The first being my love for languages and communication and secondly, my love for people and culture.

I have been working as an educator and curriculum developer for 13 years. My journey as an online ESL teacher started 3 years ago.

My approach to learning a new language is largely based on informal communication.  When I work with younger learners, I believe in teaching through play. Yes, the technical and theoretical aspects of learning a new language is important but the process must always remain enjoyable.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time in nature, traveling and making art. I am also involved in community development programs in my home country.
