My name is Slobodan and I live in the city of Banja Luka, in the Republic of Srpska, BiH.
I have a university degree in English Language and Literature which I obtained in 2006. In addition, I also passed the highest of Cambridge International exams (CPE) and to further enrich my knowledge, skills and qualifications I passed the University of Cambridge CELTA in International House Belgrade.
The main reason for becoming a teacher – I am passionate about helping other people learn. I understand that the process of acquiring a new language is a slow and sometimes a difficult one, so a lot of support is necessary at every step - that support in learning is the most important thing I give to my students. Personally, I also enjoy learning many things from my students.
I have been working as an English teacher for more than 9 years during which I worked with all ages and levels of students. Most of that time period, I worked in an EAQUALS member school – a guarantee of high quality in language services.
My experience has been mostly working with groups and individual students on general English courses as well as prepare students to take Cambridge FCE and CAE exams. All of the time I taught, I was equally fond of teaching teenagers and adults. Since I love the English language, I am also a translator and a certified court interpreter – both activities which give me a wonderful opportunity to further explore and learn about the English language.
I like to do all my lessons in cooperation with my students, we do everything in the lesson together. In class, I always try to motivate the students so they want to do a task. What’s more, I also explain to the student why something is useful or good and why it should be done in a certain way. This approach gets the student not only to participate, but actively work and contribute to every lesson.
Online teaching, as well as every other type of teaching, requires a lot of thought about the teaching process, but most of all, about the person/people who are trying to learn the language. I always think about the needs, skills and abilities of every individual student when preparing for class, so I can adapt the activities and materials to the particular student. I do not make my students learn a language, I only make the language more accessible to them.
In my free time I enjoy swimming, walking in nature and photography. My favorite sporting activity is snooker. At home, I love cooking and experimenting with food. Whenever I can, I try to learn about foreign languages.
In the end, I can just say: Join me on the interesting journey of discovering and learning English!
